In the 1930’s New York built skyscrapers to demonstrate its corporate power, in the 1990’s it was the turn of the Pudong area of Shanghai to lead the way in dramatic architecture. For the past ten years it has been the turn of Dubai, UAE. There is nothing subtle about it but to create all of this on what I remember in the early 90’s as coastal sand dunes and a few villas is mindblowing.

Just back from a great shoot for IFA Hotels in Dubai. A series of portraits in my particular style, there is a real satisfaction in squeezing something powerful out of the most unlikely of locations. The Head of Maintenance in the basement with the cold water ducting. If he looks a little hot I should add it was +40 Degrees down there.
