Just got home from a 2 day shoot in Newcastle - I really love this city. Dramatic and modern but has retained a solid connection with its industrial heritage, oh and Geordies have to be the friendliest people in the UK.
I got a sharp reminder on how one should never make any assumptions about the weather – wherever you are in the world. Hong Kong experienced the coldest weather for 65 yrs when I was shooting there a couple of weeks back.

Just before Christmas an interesting project came in from our agency friends at Mindshare London and designer Gina Geoghegan. Working with Land Rover on their “See Winter Differently” Hibernot campaign we acted as photographic visual consultants working on the design and positioning of experiential arches that we placed at the best photographic spots for Londons Lumiere festival in January.
I’m currently directing a series of short films for AkzoNobel in Amsterdam through Elmwood Design. These stills are from the first production capturing auto paint spraying in ultra slow motion.
The British industry and architecture photographer and filmmaker Richard Seymour was one of the first to try out the new Leica S (Typ 007) at a photo shoot – the company he was assigned to portray was Leica Camera AG. Since its opening in honor of the centenary of the original Leica, the Leitz-Park in Wetzlar has become a magnet for photographers and photo enthusiasts – but architecture buffs are equally delighted to pay the modern structure a visit.

I’m thrilled to report my Autostadt shot won Best In Category – Environment in the 2015 Association Of Photographer Awards at the Old Truman Brewery. London last month.
I mentioned the island of Gotland some weeks ago as I shot there in July, stunning place. One of the finished Volvo V40 shots.
It’s been an incredibly busy summer with some interesting film and stills projects, both completed and upcoming. I’ve also been heading back and forth to the South West of the UK shooting some exciting material for Barclays Bank celebrating the very best of the UK’s stunning landscapes and pastimes.

200 km from Stockholm in the middle of the Baltic lies the fabulous remote limestone island of Gotland. I’ve just returned from a few days shooting there.
Have been directing with the guys at FlyingTV again. Close air to air with an unmanned aircraft always requires the highest skills both from the pilot and the camera ops.

I’ve known better weather for shooting Porsche convertibles..
The team have recently returned from a highly successful shoot in hot and humid Manila . Fighting with monsoon conditions, chaotic driving conditions and a large audience at the location we shot a new Far East campaign for Shell Advance.
So Tuesday was spent shooting at Porsche with over £200,000 of kit – mainly consisting of no less than 4 drones, a Red Epic and assorted other Hi Res cameras. Here is the first image through plus some fun behind the scenes imagery.
I’m delighted to now reveal the first of our Yas Marina F1 shots taken on an incredibly hot June morning at the Abu Dhabi circuit. We are currently working on a series of these so more will follow on the blog very soon.
In May we were flown to Cape Town to photograph Inmarsat’s global connectivity service, IsatHub.The team travelled over 2000 km in 5 days with dawn and dusk shoots to make the most of the stunning light.
We spent Tuesday morning shooting backplates at the Yas Marina motor racing circuit in Abu Dhabi. Look out for some exciting CGI renders of F1 cars in action in the coming weeks.

I’m delighted to report I have now joined the roster of one of Europe’s finest photographers agents : Trayler and Trayler. I’ve been working with Carolyn and the team “ by special arrangement ” for a while now but its great to have the full time support of my Dream Team at such an exciting time.
A significant proportion of last week was spent shooting on the apron at Geneva airport. The results of our efforts will follow in the coming weeks.

Was honoured to be one of only 2 UK photographers to exhibit this week at the Royal Geographical Society with my winning images from the HIPA international competition. It features one of my images of the Breitling Jet Team over the Matterhorn mountain range in Switzerland.
One of a series of DM campaign shots I took for Rolls Royce for the Home of Rolls Royce special edition Phantom. This campaign concentrated on the unique craftsmanship at the Goodwood plant with a series of macro still life details and portraits of the individual craftsmen.

In the 1930’s New York built skyscrapers to demonstrate its corporate power, in the 1990’s it was the turn of the Pudong area of Shanghai to lead the way in dramatic architecture. For the past ten years it has been the turn of Dubai, UAE.
Just back from a great shoot for IFA Hotels in Dubai. A series of portraits in my particular style, there is a real satisfaction in squeezing something powerful out of the most unlikely of locations.

Quick rush from last nights overnight shoot at Heathrow Airport underground subway station. Probably the first and last time I will position my camera directly over an electrified rail.
The final version of my O2 Arena shot for AEG and Bblur Architects. It’s actually possible to enjoy the view now - at the time I was too busy hanging out of the chopper to fully appreciate what a stunning eve it was.

Switzerland is rapidly becoming my second home this year ..
to coin a phrase “ there are only so many ways to skin a cat ” I seem to be on a bit of a run of shooting jets currently and finding innovative ways to shoot essentially the same object every time is both challenging and satisfying. These are for a new advertising campaign for Albinati Aerospace, Switzerland.
There’s something fascinating about the shapes of surf on a rough coastline when shot from overhead . Taken a few miles south of the Arctic Circle at a location I’m keeping to myself for now.
Shot last week in the Alps as a reference for Nick my retoucher as we work up a new conceptual shot . I’m not one to be easily impressed but think it ranks even in this form as one of the most incredible vistas I have ever witnessed.

I was extremely honoured to secure, once again, nominations and awards in the 5th Annual Photography Masters Cup . This competition - open to professional photographers across the globe attracts many thousands of entries & I was fortunate enough to gain 4 nominations across 3 categories and a winning honourable mention for my entry “ Atlantic Road ” in the Architecture category.

With my close associations with Leica Camera a recent campaign for Mercedes High Performance Engines was featured in Leica’s “S” magazine & iPad App. The original shoot involved still life photography of the pinnacle of the internal combustion engine.
After months of careful negotiations I have been given unique and privileged, ongoing access to the site of the worlds first civilian space programme . Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert will be the base for Virgin Galactic.

Have been shooting in the US over the past week and was in LA yesterday for a couple of rest days. Was impressed by the matt black, reflection free, cherry pickers Chris Nolan is using on the set of “Magnus Rex” Principal photography has been ongoing this week on Grand Avenue.

For the past few months I have been shooting all my commissions with a Leica S2 Hi Res camera system. An outstanding piece of kit with the finest optics & operating system I have ever encountered.
Rolls Royce Motors are celebrating 100 years of the Spirit of Ecstasy in 2011. A story close to my heart as my grandfather was one of the original 6 young apprentice engineers to work under Henry Royce in the early part of the twentieth century.

In a forest near Gardermoen Airport in Norway is a 30M high tower topped by a giant illuminated Kepler Star. The installation is by the Norwegian artist Vebjorn Sand.
Back shooting in Norway for the past week , love Oslo, its a fascinating city. Its slowly coming to accept modern architecture.
Have been updating the book with a stack of new work. This is a new version of my Atlantic Rd shot & no it hasn’t been manipulated - the road camber is totally real.
The AOP Open Awards is in its 11th year with approximately 1300 entries on this occasion. I was honoured to have 2 images selected, we all attended a private view and a brief awards ceremony last night with top honours going to Adrian Cook for his atmospheric shot of 2 children at play.

Brilliant Hastings Hotel I stayed here on Monday - great hotel with a highly original set of rooms and really welcoming atmosphere. If you need a great romantic venue for a weekend or on a weekday for work I really recommend it - fully intend to return to do a lifestyle test here very soon.
I’ve been shooting at Prague Studios today and came across this mural on the side of one of the sound stages, clearly in the past scenic artists had time on their hands. Cool though .
I’ve started my new personal project on Farnborough Airport this week. These are the first 2 images from an ongoing series depicting life at this stunning facility that’s available to those lucky enough to run an executive jet.
I’ve recently completed a UK press campaign for Mercure Hotels through MBA, London. My usual accomplished team of make up artists, stylists & couple of excellent models I’ve worked with for several years, produced a lifestyle/ interior shoot to consolidate the UK winter offering for the French hotel chain.

December saw me shooting new stylised web & B2B Campaign images for Charles Kendall Group , a large multi-national shipping company. Art direction & web design was by Catch Digital in Soho.
I’ve just returned from a reccy trip to the Italian / Swiss border looking for good alpine road locations.The Grand St Bernard Pass will close in the coming weeks with snowfall but will be perfect for an upcoming shoot I’m in the early stages of planning for next Spring/Summer.
I’ve just spent the weekend in town, collaborating again with his colleagues from Drive CGI. Work continues on new CGI rendered car shots in arresting - and not always glamorous environments ! Watch this space in the coming weeks for the finished shots.
